Critical Illness Insurance

Critical Illness Cover will pay you a lump sum on the diagnosis of a specified critical illness which will help minimize the financial hardship that your family may suffer due to your potential lack of income.

Advances in medical science mean that you now stand a far greater chance of surviving a critical illness, but your ability to earn maybe affected by the condition that you suffer from.
Unlike life assurance which pays out when you die or Health Insurance which pays out when you are ill and unable to earn, Critical Illness Cover is a lump sum that is typically paid out within 30 days from the onset / diagnosis of your illness and is not affected by any other health insurance that you may have.

The money can be used as you see fit, but many people use it for additional medical expenses incurred by their illness such as home health care, modifications to the home and/or car, or seeking specialist private medical consultation and/or treatment.

Cover is subject to medical underwriting and exclusions can be applied for instance pre-existing conditions.

Illnesses typically covered include:

Alzheimer's disease
Angioplasty or heart bypass
Heart attack
Kidney failure
Life-threatening cancers
Loss of hearing
Loss of limb(s)
Loss of sight
Loss of speech
Major organ transplant
